Job Description

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support the coordination and documentation of safety governance activities, including leadership or committee-based safety reviews
  • Assist with regulatory compliance efforts through inspections, internal assessments, and monitoring of safety programs
  • Help identify training needs and coordinate safety and compliance training for employees and response teams
  • Support emergency preparedness activities, including response team readiness, drills, and documentation
  • Monitor contractor compliance with site safety requirements, permits, and supporting documentation
  • Provide cross-functional assistance with environmental monitoring or technical safety activities as needed
  • Act as a liaison with external service providers supporting safety-related systems such as alarms, detection equipment, and protective infrastructure
  • Collaborate with facilities or maintenance teams to support calibration, inspection, troubleshooting, and ongoing operation of monitoring systems
  • Participate in routine inspections and audits of emergency response and safety equipment
  • Contribute to the development, maintenance, and refinement of safety, environmental, and compliance programs, procedures, and guidance materials
  • Assist employees and supervisors with understanding safe work expectations and regulatory requirements
  • Support incident response and investigation activities, including documentation, corrective actions, and follow-up
  • Compile safety metrics and assist with preparation of incident summaries, trend analyses, and performance reports
  • Support occupational health initiatives such as hearing conservation or exposure monitoring programs
  • Contribute to additional safety, environmental, or compliance-related initiatives as organizational needs evolve

Required Qualifications

  • More than one year of experience in a safety, environmental, or compliance-related role
  • General understanding of workplace hazards, materials handling, and preventive safety practices
  • Familiarity with regulatory documentation and recordkeeping requirements, including injury and illness logs
  • Experience supporting or maintaining safety programs, policies, or procedures
  • Ability to evaluate data, identify trends, and communicate findings effectively
  • Working knowledge of standard office, documentation, and reporting tools
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse teams

Preferred Certifications & Background

  • Training related to confined space entry or machinery safety
  • CPR, first aid, or emergency response credentials
  • Education or certification in occupational health, safety, environmental studies, or a related field
  • Practical safety experience gained through formal roles or structured on-the-job training
